Frequently Asked Questions

Cleaning & maintenance

Regular maintenance includes cleaning the brewing unit, descaling the machine, and replacing the water filter. Also, make sure you clean the coffee grinder regularly to preserve the coffee's flavor.

The frequency of cleaning your coffee machine depends on its use. For optimal performance and to extend the machine's lifespan, it's generally recommended to clean the coffee spout, milk frother, and drip tray daily with our milk cleaner. It's also important to thoroughly clean the machine weekly with our cleaning tablets.

Replacing the water filter is essential for maintaining water quality and coffee flavor. A clogged or worn filter can lead to limescale and contaminants that can disrupt the machine's operation and negatively impact the coffee's flavor.

Limescale buildup can easily be prevented by regularly running a descaling program, depending on the water hardness in your area. Many coffee machines have an indicator that indicates when descaling is necessary. Always use the appropriate Yunio descaling agent and follow the manufacturer's instructions to prevent damage to the machine. We recommend descaling your coffee machine once a month.

Error messages & settings

To make your coffee less strong, you can adjust the grind to a coarser setting. If you prefer a stronger coffee, you can adjust the grind to a finer setting.

  1. The adjustment knob for the bean grinder is located in the reservoir or, in the case of the Yunio H2, on the outside with a ring.
  2. Make a cup of coffee
  3. While the machine is grinding, turn the grind knob one notch toward nine for coarser and one notch toward one for finer. Continue turning the knob one notch at a time until the desired grind size is reached.

NOTE: It may take a while for the set grind to reach the brewing chamber. The previous grind must be used first. Therefore, we recommend brewing two cups of coffee before conducting the actual test.

There's a good chance the grinder is blocked by something. You can often easily remove the blocking object yourself by following the steps below:

  1. Switch off the coffee machine and then unplug it from the socket.
  2. Empty the bean container completely, remove the grill.
  3. Remove the protective cover with the grinding mill.
  4. Use a vacuum cleaner to completely empty the entrance to the grinding mill.
  5. Using needle-nose pliers, turn the star-shaped end of the grinder a quarter turn counterclockwise (to the left) to loosen the debris.
  6. Vacuum everything thoroughly again and replace the protective cover.
  7. Fill the bean hopper with fresh beans and restart the machine.

If these steps do not lead to a solution, please contact our customer service.

  1. The water in the water tank is below the detection level. Add water, but no higher than the MAX line.
  2. The level sensor is dirty and no longer detects water. Clean the sensors with cleaning vinegar.
  3. The level sensor is broken, please contact our customer service.

The number of coffee grounds in the grounds container has reached its maximum. Empty the grounds container and replace it.

  1. The coffee bean hopper is empty. Add coffee beans to the bean hopper, but do not fill it above the MAX line indicated on the bean hopper.
  2. The beans are sticking together, stir the bean hopper to loosen the beans from each other.
  3. The container is not empty, check if there is something in the coffee grinder that is blocking it.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, check whether the bean hopper is installed correctly.

  1. The bean hopper is not installed correctly. Reinstall the bean hopper.
  2. The bean hopper sensor is damaged. Please contact our customer service.
  3. The bean hopper's magnetic field is defective due to faulty or missing magnets. Please remove the magnet. Contact our customer service.

1. The drip tray is not secured properly, replace the drip tray
2. The sensor is broken, please contact our customer service.
3. The magnet is broken or lost, please contact our customer service.

1. If the waste water tank is full, empty and clean the waste water tank, then put it back.
2. The sensor is dirty. Check and clean the (metal) sensor and dry it thoroughly before replacing the container.

1. There is insufficient water flow in the systems. Turn the machine off completely and restart it. If the system still indicates there is insufficient water after 3 consecutive cups, wait 10 minutes and try again.
2. The water tank inlet is blocked. Check the water supply and press "Fill Water." Check the tank outlet and replace it, moving the tank to the end.
3. The brewing unit's sieve is blocked/dirty. Clean the sieve thoroughly by running the "thorough brewing unit cleaning" program. If necessary, use two tablets at a time.
4. The flow meter has become defective, please contact our customer service

1. The milk container is empty. Do a quick rinse and refill the milk.
2. The steam wand or steam outlet is blocked. Remove the machine's front cover and adjust the air inlet with the valve (if present). If this doesn't help, remove the milk frother from the outlet head and clean it thoroughly. Replace everything neatly.

1. There's water leaking in the machine. Check where the leak is coming from. If it's not easy to fix, contact our customer service.
